Welcome! Take a deep breath, slow down, and give yourself space to connect
I'm Avery (he/they), a strengths-based, relational therapist who works primarily with neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, trans, and queer adults in Chicago and throughout Illinois. Using a gentle and supportive approach, I build genuine therapeutic connections. Read below to learn more about how I can help you better understand yourself and grow toward your goals.
My Therapeutic Approach
I understand feeling like you never quite "fit in" with other people because of the way you process information and view the world. Maybe you have a sense of otherness from having big emotions or thoughts that go in a million directions at once.
I provide a space where you can info-dump, rant, go on tangents, and be your unmasked self. You do not need to have your thoughts already planned and perfectly articulated before our sessions. Let me ask questions to help you connect the dots with your thoughts. Your role is to show up, however you are.
Our sessions will focus on interpersonal growth, rather than finding a cure for symptoms. We will explore the ways in which you are affected by societal systems and how your life experiences have shaped who you are today. Through understanding your challenges and celebrating your successes, I will help you develop skills to advocate for your wants and needs.
I strive to lead by example in showing that it is okay to make mistakes, to always be learning about oneself, and to continue growing and developing your identity as you move through different life experiences.
When we are through with our work together, I hope you will have the tools you need to live a sustainable, satisfying, and ever-evolving life.
